Henry entered into his first bike race, Bike Cochrane's Angry Hawks Enduro Race.
Here is the proof and the fun of it.

Full size
Natalia got co-opted into making candy bags for the racers. Of course, she LOVES this
kind of stuff - see Hallowe'en at our house.

Full size
Race tents in position and getting ready for racers to arrive and check in. We looked legit!

Full size
Ryan and I screwed up in registering Henry as I forgot to assign his age and Ryan thought he was 9.
But it didn't matter as he got his race plate and he was jacked.

Full size
So was Henry's friend Ty who we were super thrilled was able to make the race.

Full size
Big Hill spent the morning helping kids tune up their bikes and Tim hugely helped out Ty in getting
his bike ready for the day.

Full size
The boys with our race arch - big thanks to Richelle who brought this, a generator, and many other
things to make this race feel more legit.

Full size
Ryan made this podium with wood that Colin R had cut for us. Henry and Ty checked it out the morning
of the race.

Bike racks almost full already, which was awesome.

Big bikers!

The kids getting ready to race and a view of how many kids were here. We had ~80 kids registered
and had plates, along with a number of toddler kids too.

Graham brought the whole family in for the race and Fisher got to do his first race ever.

Full size
We had a bit of a bottleneck at the start of stage 1. In retrospect, we could have started the big
kids on stages 3 and 4, but we'll know that for next time.

Full size
I told the boys they could crush their candy bags after stage 2, which they promptly did.

Full size
And then, they went right back up for stages 3 and 4.

Full size
Ryan's mom made cookies and Ryan got medals made for all of the kids. Look at these smiles.

Full size
And on the podium too.

Full size
Fisher was our last racer to come in, which I think was quite an effort on Graham's part to
get him all the way through the course.

Full size
Last berms to finish.

Full size
Fisher was a trooper and kept going all day.

Full size
The bigger kids helped all of the little guys by both encouraging them and also in some cases
pulling them up to the latter stages by Tow-whee straps.

Full size
Fisher's last gasp to finish.

Full size
Ryan got a hold of the microphone as Fisher was coming in and declared him to be our Heart of the Race
winner. Fisher was so excited to win a medal and a cookie, but he also won a camelback for being our
heart of the race. Graham later told me that Fisher refused to take it off and even slept with it that
night. Graham said that Fisher had to pee about 300 times the next day since he just kept it on his
back the entire day and kept drinking from it.

Full size
Fisher's new camelback.

Full size
Henry also got a big surprise after the race as Graham's bike shop fixed him up a new 24" Norco,
which honestly Henry should have already been on. Henry was so excited and just kept saying 'AWESOME!'
