Some fun photos from my friend Lindsey's wedding, biking around
Cochrane and Canmore, along with our semi-annual boys' weekend trip, this
time to Bragg Creek to introduce the boys to actual mountain biking.

Henry, Walter, Grace, Jack, and Logan for Logan's 7th birthday which I happened to miss.

Full size
While Natalia and I were at the wedding in Calgary, my Mom took the boys to a park to run out
some energy, and while there decided to take photos of them in the trees.

Full size
It's kind of like 'Between the Ferns' but not quite.

Full size
Looking out into Sunset Ridge and down into the ravine.

Full size
Nice view looking into the ravine.

Full size
And being silly.

Full size
They needed to have blizzards BEFORE dinner in case they were too full afterwards. That's a Grandma move.

Full size
Henry in his gi at Arashi-Do, where he's started this fall.

Full size
My boys and I on my birthday with my new sweater from the Danyliuks.

Full size
My friend Graham happened to pop by on my birthday enroute to Canmore for a first aid recert. Not
only was I able to help him out with a laptop charger, he also got to sing me Happy Birthday on Natalia's
pink guitar while I had a candle in my DQ Buster Bar!

Boys' Weekend in Bragg Creek

Full size
This was the welcoming committee at the VRBO we rented.

Full size
I think our cabin would be generously described as 'cozy', but I really wanted the boys to get a chance
to experience Bragg Creek and this was one of the only options I could rent in town. It's roughly 500 sq ft
maybe with one bedroom a living/dining room, but some really nice outdoor space and a sweet hot tub.
I made steak for dinner as Natalia had prepared our entire meal plan which was AWESOME!

Full size
The look on Erik's face when he tried Japanese whiskey.

Full size
That's a pretty accurate description of it I'd say.

Full size
Erik quite liked the bull's hairdo.

Full size
While Erik had torn his bicep and couldn't bike, I did convince Earl and Benny to take a mountain
bike lesson on rented bikes. Here they are in the West Bragg parking lot warming up.

Full size
Benny figuring out how a modern bike rides.

Full size
Benny hoofing it up a few hills.

Full size
Taking a break on the climb up to Merlin.

Full size
Nice look at the terrain.

Full size
Earl did pretty well too on this morning although he claimed I was trying to kill him.

Full size
My friend Andra wound up being our instructor, which was awesome. Here they are at the intersection
to Long Distance.

Full size
Benny in a pretty nice clearing.

Full size
Pushing their bikes when the going got too tough.

Full size
'Ready' position for Earl!

Full size
Making their way up to Merlin View. While the initial target was to do the loop, we were a
lot over time so called it at this point.

Full size
Hey boys, those things work better when you ride them!

Full size
Earl did it! He made it to Merlin View! I didn't have the heart to tell him that Henry can
also climb to here, but now he knows.

Full size
Benny and Moose Mountain.

Full size
The boys made it to Merlin View!

Full size
Nice outing in West Bragg for Boys' Weekend! We'll have to photo shop Erik into this photo maybe
with that sweet look on his face from the Japanese whiskey.

Full size
Earl and I on the stone sofa.

Full size
Benny riding around the corner. In the end, both boys managed to crash, but neither of them that
badly. And the best part was that I didn't make them do it - Andra did!

Full size
Earl making his way back to the car.

Full size
Photo of yours truly riding with the boys.

Full size
While the boys nursed their wounds, Erik took the drone out for a rip and took shots of us.

Full size
After hot tubs, I took the boys for a walk at Elbow Falls. This was Erik's glamour shot for the trip.

Full size
The four of us at Elbow Falls.

Full size
Erik and Earl and Elbow Falls.

Full size
Next, we did a super short walk to check out the suspension bridge. When I suggested an actual mountain
hike, I damn near got a mutiny, so we settled for a walk.

Full size
The boys on Elbow River suspension bridge.

Full size
While it would have been easy to head right into the beer at this point, we decided to take a walking
pub crawl instead. Here's a neat piece of debris that showed up from the flood.

Full size
And the classic Erik peeing picture.

Full size
I'm not entirely sure why this is setup in Bragg Creek, but Erik liked it.

Full size
Having big boy beers at the Bavarian.

Full size
Erik and Benny in Bragg Creek.

Full size
Nachos and wings at the Powderhorn.

Full size
Earl was happy to wrap himself up in a blanket waiting for dinner.

Full size
Benny brought me a cake for my birthday, which was very thoughtful and delicious for breakfast.

Full size
We had some pretty sweet northern lights around this time.

Full size
Walter LOVES my friend Andrew's Ms Pacman game, but likes Galaga the best.

Full size
Henry with his gi on and northern lights out too.

Full size
Henry finally went on the roller coaster!

Full size
Walter hitting up the roller coaster again.

Full size
Walter getting to check out the inside of a skid steer we used at Riverfront Park.

A pretty amazing plate of deliciousness!

Biking at Canmore Nordic Centre

Full size
I took the boys biking at CNC to meet up with their friend Fisher. While the start wasn't a terrific
success (I need to ensure the boys are fed WELL first), the day turned out well. The boys wanted to
start at the jump park so we did.

Full size
We eventually caught up to the group, but first here we are getting the rest of lunch into the boys.

Full size
My friend Nathan's wife Julie killed it in terms of packing candy for the sprogs. They were
big fans of big candy bags at all of the stops.

Full size
At the trail junction between EKG and Odyssey. The kids had a good rest here and also ran around like
hooligans meaning they also wound up with burrs all over their socks.

Full size
Henry, Fisher, Walter, and another biker enjoying CNC.

Full size
All of the kids having a hoot before doing the Odyssey trail.

Julie and Kayla with Mount Rundle behind them.

Full size
Nathan's oldest is apparently a 'bird whisperer' and she convinced a spruce grouse to jump up on
her front bike tire.

Full size
Nathan doing a short descent.

Full size
Henry thought it was fun to go fast down here as he jumped off a small jump.

Full size
Walter noodling along on the back end of Odyssey. He REALLY liked the banked berms and corners
at the end of the trail as we descended back from the high point.

Full size
Henry with Ha Ling peak behind him.

The boys biking at CNC.

Full size
The jump park is definitely a hit for our boys.

Full size
My buddy Matt with his wife's license plate. Apparently their girls thought Mom's car looked like
a blueberry. Maybe 'bluebs' might have been better as Heidi gets LOTS of comments... Great time
playing squash and getting my butt handed to me by Matt though!

Full size
One upside of work travel is it expands the range of places you can buy used stuff from. In this case,
really good used bikes. This is Henry's 'new to him' bike and he's JACKED!

Hinther wedding!

Long video of Kurt and Michelle's excellent speech!

Full size
Looking great Lindsey and Taylor.

Full size
Even Bud managed to make an appearance! Nice work making work work Bud!

Full size
Beautiful bride and groom.

Full size
And Natalia too!

Full size
Party Nati came out on this night as evidenced by the fun times here.

Full size
All the good Saskatchewan folks enjoying an outdoor beverage.

Full size

Full size
Riding the fat bike on fresh snow is always fun!

Full size
We hosted a glow bike event that was really well-attended by ~40-50 people.

Full size
Zach and Mitchell with lots of glow sticks.

Full size
Henry and Walter crushing their glow sticks too.

Full size
Waiting for the whole team to catch up.

Biking fun

Full size
Graham and Paul joined Joel and I for a lap of Merlin.

Full size
Joel and I then did a short lap of Ranger to Snakes and Ladders and out on Mountain Road.
