We love our family ski trips and since Castle got expensive for lodging we decided
to try Kimberley instead. It was lovely and a very nice place to ski.

First some photos of Henry trying out snowshoes. I found a sale at Canadian Tire for $30 and
thought it's not the worst thing to have some misery sticks in the house.

Henry thought it was cool that he could tramp around in the creek without falling through the ice or snow.

Henry showing the use of my step stool that I was using to pull video camera data from.
Sadly, the 'vandal camera' was vandalized and taken.

The boys being hooligans in the tub with their $7 bath bomb (that I'm sure is actively
now coating our plumbing and making a mess).
Family ski trip to Kimberley
Full size
We went to Kimberley for a family ski trip with our friends Stacey and Alf this year.
Here are the boys having dinner and being silly together. For future reference, an
open loft isn't ideal for four little nuts who are jacked up on sugar. A closed
door goes a long way.

Walter had a bit of a confidence setback and was quite afraid to let his skis run a bit. After
a long ski down from the North Star quad where I skied backwards and held him from going faster
he slowly started to earn some confidence back and improve. Skiing with his little friend Grayson
also helped here as did skiing through the fun kids zone here.

Working on his turns at the Owl area where he had his first T-bar experience. Again, for posterity
notes here, T bars with little kids is hard on the back and quads since the bar basically sits on their
butts but on my calfs. Putting little kids in between your legs is easier but not learning for them
so as parents you suck it up.

Walter's mood improved dramatically with liberal doses of sugar and candy.

On top of the North Star quad. He wanted this photo taken for his friend Niko.

The kids' zone at Kimberley is awesome and really fun for kids to ride down the luge track and
hunt for animals. They used to have 'mascots' but these got removed and now they have these
fun little dragons.

This trip marked the first time that Henry tried night skiing. Here we are getting ready for
a few North Star laps with the sun dropping below the base lodge.

Kimberley claims they have the longest lit continuous night run in North America. Not sure how
the numbers compare to somewhere like Cypress Mtn, but it was pretty fun.

Inasmuch as they like skiing, boys are still boys and they also really like just climbing around
on snow banks and throwing snow around.

The boys found the mini monster too. This luge track is terrific for kids' mobility, and it also
has a lot less fast kids zipping by, which is nice too.

Some of the champions honoured at the top of the Kootenay Haus, an old log cabin at the top of
the North Star chair that gets used mostly for racing now.

Our boys mostly enjoyed knocking icicles down.

A chopper came in to transport guests up to Boulder Hut from the Kimbo parking lot. The boys
thought it was pretty awesome and Henry remembered the last time he saw a helicopter at Elbow Lake.
