Once again we took our kids for a party at Old Macdonald's near Stettler
in Central Alberta. They love the beach and the ridiculous kid stuff and we got to
go again with Erin and Blaine, which always makes it more fun.

Full size
The first night I went in with Henry only since Walter was still recovering from pink eye.
Here's Henry having supper, which is a lot easier to manage without the 5 year old.

Full size
Henry and I picked up donuts for the kids and brought them from the Donut Mill in Red Deer.

Full size
One of the things the kids enjoy the most is just biking around and being more independent. I did
pack walkie talkies and that allowed the older kids to go a bit more and further from the camp site.

Full size
Henry and Gracie got to ride on the pedal bikes without the little kids and they thought they
had won the lottery. Henry wanted to ride on the single, Gracie wanted to ride on the double
so they compromised and went on the double.

Full size
Zipping around the campground.

Riding the pedal bikes

Hitting the speed bump was a highlight

Full size
One of the great things about this campground is their candy store (in the eyes of an 8 year old). This
is the result of Henry seeing some of his first advertising and telling me that gummy rolls are amazing.

Full size
We brought the Voyager 300 raft for this trip, which the kids really enjoyed.

Full size
Digging in the sand is also a hit. Henry is showing here what happens when he digs down to the clay layer.

Full size
Jackson and Henry digging and building a tower.

Full size
Jackson and Walter in the hammock. Jackson actually fell out of the hammock since he and
Walter were 'playnig too hard', but it was a pretty fun addition to our camp gear.

Full size
Jackson's tongue as a result of too much candy.

Full size
The kids having ice cream. There are two places for ice cream here, one at the beach, and one
at Grandma's Kitchen. So naturally, the kids got ice cream pretty much every day.

Full size
Playing ladder ball.

Full size
Walter has the worst case of FOMO of anyone I know. I had put him to sleep in the tent and of course
he was worried he was missing something so I looked over to the tent and saw this little head.

Full size
For days with rain, the 'museum' (read building filled with vintage farm equipment and stuff) and the
mini golf is a hit. There's also an arcade in here too.

Full size
The kids on an old carriage.

Full size
Feeding goats leaves.

Full size
This was right in Walter's wheelhouse.

Full size
Having a break at the 'massage studio'.

Full size
More hydrological design work to build canals at the beach.

Full size
Walter and Izzy actually played pretty well together on this trip. I also saw more Izzy smiles
than I think I ever have, so that's progress.

Full size
Learning to play bocce ball.

Full size
A second round of pedal carts means Walter got to try it, and Henry got his turn on a single cart.

Full size
Walter rocking the pedal carts. Note that I made them wear helmets.

Full size
Zipping around the campground.

Full size
Taking a break at the playground.

Full size
Playing with Jackson.

Full size
And then chasing the Triple Nickel around the campground too.

Full size
And having some snacks after the bike ride.

Full size
Part of the attraction to this area is the fact that the lake goes out hundreds of metres and is
super shallow. So kids can play and you're not worried that they're going to drown.

Full size
'Parallel play' with Izzy and Walter.

Full size
Walter, Izzy, and Gracie at the beach.

Full size
Henry eating Doritos with Gracie as they dry off.

Full size
Walter and Izzy playing in the sand together.

Full size
We went on the Double Dime train ride again and the kids (as usual) loved it. Walter and Jackson
got to ride 'by themselves' and thought they were big kids.

Full size
Henry and Gracie on the Double Dime.

Full size
Henry found this 'magic cube' at the beach and it's swiftly turned into a favourite.

Full size
Walter and Jackson on the train.

Full size
Walter refused to take his hat and promptly decided that he needed mine.

Full size
Izzy and Erin on the merry go round. I think Erin's face here is funny.

Full size
Henry and Gracie taking their shoes off in anticipation of throwing them into the bin to try
to get their 25 cents back.

Full size
Jackson and Walter doing the same.

Full size
Family ice cream time with the Ulvelands and their new au-pair Alissa.

Full size
Erin and the girls playing in the sand.

Full size
Walter digging in the pool zone to feed water to his 'huge diamond' pool we dug.

Playing in Red Deer

Full size
Since we were driving through, we popped into Red Deer to get some cousin time. Here's my sister
Danielle making glitter tattoos for the kids.

Full size
Walter and Jack playing in the slide.

Full size
Henry with his scorpion and 'luck' tattoos.

Full size
Walter with his bat and cross.

Full size
Having lemonade with Kale.

Full size
Playing soccer with Logan and Landon.

Full size
The cousins minus Luc.

Full size
Henry doing the dab and the kids making crazy faces.

The Cochrane Fair

Full size
Since Natalia is on the board and the Fair committee, she came home a couple of days early to
get ready. Here's one of her many contributions to the Fair to make it more family-friendly -
a dig pit for kids in the wood shavings. Every time we came by this area, it was full of kids.

Full size
This was the first thing the boys wanted to see - the Reptile World exhibit. That's a white
ball python that Henry is looking at.

Full size
Walter did mutton busting again, so got his photo taken with a sheep.

Full size
Walter getting ready for mutton busting.

Full size
Heading into the pen with the sheep.

Walter mutton busting and lasting longer than last year

Full size
The real draw here is his new green ribbon AND a candy bag (that Mommy made)

Full size
The boys and the Zipper (which they didn't ride).

Full size
The little gun car, that Walter DID ride.

Full size
Riding the 'Super Slide'.

Henry riding on the Super Slide

Walter riding on the Super Slide

Full size
Natalia made AWESOME colouring sheets that also got a lot of play.

Full size
John and Maria joined us for the Fair as volunteers ALL DAY on the Saturday. Thanks John and Maria!

Natalia modeling the Stick Pony Races

Full size
Little kids doing stick pony races.

Full size
This little guy was excited to race.

Full size
Off the start line and off you go!

Full size
And sack races to appeal to slightly older kids. Can I saw how awesome Natalia's fanny pack is?

Full size
Doing wheelbarrow races with kids in the business end.

Full size
Walter and John watching the Great Garbanzo.

Full size
This guy was actually really awesome.

Full size
Since Natalia had asked this face painter to come, we had to have the boys faces painted.
Here's Henry getting a Pikachu.

Full size
He was excited but you can imagine how fun this was to wash off.

Full size
Walter getting a lizard.

Full size
Our little painted kids. This is one of the only times I could convince Henry to keep his
sunglasses off for a few minutes.

Full size
And then they got ice cream treats.

Full size
Throwing bean bags around was also a hit.

Full size
Trying out a tractor.

Full size
Walter wants in.

Full size
Walter and Aunty Maria on the plasma car.

Full size
At the worst-attended dance I've been to.

Natalia and I out for a dance.
