My buddy Dano and I try to get a few hikes in a year, and despite the horrible weather, we decided to
take a try on Mt Rose. It was going to get slightly less rain in this valley than Mt Kidd, which we wanted
to climb, but it was still easily 10-15mm. Here we are crossing the suspension bridge with our bike and rain gear.

Dano giving it a run to get across the Elbow here, rather than going to the back and coming in via Cougar
as Andrew S and I did to get up to Threepoint.
A VERY cold fording of the Elbow River

Dan and I made a choice to ditch bikes at the Big Elbow campground and cross the river there. We went
along the trees here to get over to Cougar Creek, but this wound up being both soaked (even through my gaiters)
and was WAY slower than I wanted.

When we got to Cougar Creek, it was then dumping rain, making the long sidehill traverses required to
make progress pretty challenging. Here is the outlet of the Threepoint entrance I did with Andrew.

A cool waterfall on the Cougar, which combined with the very wet and side sloping rock walls is why
the route here involves a bunch of side hilling. Unless you traveled with a raft and a chopper, this
route is definitely a challenging approach.

More cool mushrooms. I clearly need more mycological instruction as I have no clue what it is!

Dano as we started to finally get to the real part of this hike, climbing up Mt Rose. For the record
I never need to do this hike again as just getting to the upslope here was a major challenge. It
might be more pleasant in better weather though.

After getting moderately off course and fighting wet scree, we did finally pop out above the treeline
and had an easy look up to the peak.

By the time we got back down to the Cougar Creek, the rains had started again.

Crossing the Elbow River to come back to the campground where our bikes were.

Dan making the last push to get back across the Elbow on the suspension bridge. Having bikes here
was super critical as this shaved off easily an hour or two of trudging on gravel road.

My feet didn't look amazing after the frozen tour through the river and then the bike ride home.

After the very wet outing, before heading for well-deserved poutine and cheeseburgers at the Powderhorn.

Shockingly, this was seen on the island in Victoria.

Beautiful evening on Sister Moon trail climbing to the top of the big hill.

Chandler had pointed out the big hill earlier in the night from our deck and I said do you want
to bike up to there? He said sure, so we did.
