Some photos from hiking in Cochrane, May-June 2018.

Quick run up Yam

Full size
Since the forecast was turning rapidly, I thought I'd best get some outdoor time in and put a run up
Yam. Here's the backside looking back where I came.

The chains were added after too many people made bad decisions.

Full size
Still a little bit of snow left on the last push to the summit.

Full size
A view from the summit. I barely kept it to 90 mins on the up, and then was an idiot on the way
down so took longer than I should have.

Looking out to Mt Lougheed from Yam.

The data from the up is HERE and the fateful down is HERE .

Quick run up Heart Mtn

Full size
Again, since my mountain windows are short and sweet, I tried to get a personal best up Heart Mountain.
Here, you see the two lobes that lend this mountain its namesake.

Full size
After a quick 62 minutes, I was at the top.

Full size
Looking back at Mt McGillivray, not my favourite summit.

Video of looking around on the summit of Heart:

Data on the way up is HERE and way down
is HERE .

I am one good-looking man.

A quick run up Limestone Mountain

Full size
Carl and I had a window for some strategy discussions and decided it was better to do it on a
mountain than in a coffee shop. Since we have a bit of a habit of going the wrong way, I try to
track our trips a bit better now, which serves more as evidence than it does to actually help us.

Full size
This is looking back at Carl and south into the Opal Range.

Full size
The headwall here is the way out if you choose to keep going and traverse up to Wedge Peak.

Full size
A bit of the 'moderate' scrambling on this day.

Full size
Carl, looking back at Wedge Peak.

Video at the top of Limestone Mountain - did I mention it was windy?:

Full size
On the way down, I got a better photo of this plant in the valley - I think it may be a meadow parsnip
but I'm not sure.

Full size
Looking up at what we called 'the Nipple' to the south of us.

Full size
Carl, hiking along the Rocky Creek as we make our way out. It turns out we completely missed
almost the entire trail on this day, so this might be a new winner.

The moose we saw on the drive in.
