For the 10th semi-annual Barney Clark Memorial, I met up with the Barneys in Sandpoint
Idaho. More accurately, I drove down there, and they say in Portland with cancelled flights.
But they eventually made it, just about 18 hours late.

First, a sense of how cold it was the week before the Barney Clark trip this year. I went for
a xc ski in the neighbourhood to ensure my body could still work.

On the way to Schweitzer, I stopped in at Nak for a few laps. It was -29 deg C when I arrived
but with a bit of wind, it was borderline too cold to ski.

Nice look at Storm Mountain as I got up to the divide with a bit of snow on the road. Nice

I got in, hit the grocery store (you can buy beer at Safeway in Idaho), and 'stocked up'.

I thought this chipmunk was funny since his little hands were like how Henry draws cats.

So, the boys were able to get the first flight out of PDX, but since there was fresh snow
I thought it was better to wait for them on the ski hill. Decent snow for sure and always
fun to explore a new mountain.

Schweitzer is basically two big bowls, with the back bowl being larger than the front.
Lots of fun steep lines and good tree runs would make this place incredible, with a bit
more snow.

I trusted my nose and went sniffing for powder. The T bar had just opened earlier in the
week for the first time in the year, so it wasn't that hard. It just took a bit of work
to fight through tighter trees.

Fresh snow is wonderful and addictive.
